Description:
UK - Model 1p - Unknown Model 1p from Queen Victoria's reign. Unfortunately no year on it to identify how old it is. These were done as test coins and one of the first bi-metallic coins ever created

Comment: If I remember correctly the 1792 US birch cent was the first Bimet, copper with a silver dot in the center.

Comment: Thanks for the info, I think they may have experimented with them over here as far back as Charles II but they were crudely done, normally a copper plug added randomly to the coin

Comment: My reference says these were minted in 1844 by Joseph Moore of Allen & Moore of Birmingham. Reference is X#9, X#9a, X#9b or X#9c depending on the composition.
