Description:
2 Euro KM#71 8.5000 g., Bi-Metallic Nickel-Brass center in Copper-Nickel ring, 25.75 mm. Subject : Euro Coinage, 10th Anniversary Obv: The inner part of the coin features the world in the form of a euro symbol in the centre, showing how the euro has become a true global player over the last ten years. The surrounding elements symbolise the importance of the euro to ordinary people (represented by a family group and houses), to the financial world (the Eurotower), to trade (a ship), to industry (a factory), and to the energy sector and research and development (two wind turbines). The designer’s initials, “A.H.”, can be found between the ship and the Eurotower. Along the upper and lower edges of the inner part of the coin are, respectively, the country of issue ÉIRE and the years “2002 – 2012”. The twelve stars of the European Union surround the design on the outer ring of the coin. Rev: 2 on the left-hand side, six straight lines run vertically between the lower and upper right-hand side of the face, 12 stars are superimposed on these lines, one just before the two ends of each line, superimposed on the mid - and upper section of these lines; the European continent ( extended ) is represented on the right-hand side of the face; the right-hand part of the representation is superimposed on the mid-section of the lines; the word ‘EURO’ is superimposed horizontally across the middle of the right-hand side of the face. Under the ‘O’ of EURO, the initials ‘LL’ of the engraver appear near the right-hand edge of the coin. Edge: Reeded with 2 * *, repeated six times, alternately upright and inverted.
