Tristan da Cunha - Silver Proof 50 Pence Named after Tristao da Cunha who discovered the island in 1506, it has only been inhabited since 1810. On August 5th 1867 HRH Prince Alfred the Duke of Edinburgh visited the island, and its only village was named Edinburgh in his honour, making it fitting that the coin shown mentions Prince Philip the present Duke of Edinburgh, and celebrated the 40th anniversary of his marriage to H.R.H.
