Tokelau is a group of three atolls between New Zealand and Hawaii. It became a British protectorate in 1889, and was transferred to New Zealand administration in 1925. It issued its first coins in 1978. Although these bear the Queen's head, as head of The Commonwealth, her name and titles are not shown. Our coin shows three generations of the royal family.
