Description:
Le 14 Juillet 1801, France.
This piece appears to be brass instead of the listed tin, which d'Essling implies as well, painted a dark chocolate and then lacquered. It may just be a lacquer job that has gone bad but the brass color appears only at points of wear. The obverse is very high relief while the reverse is nearly flat. d'Essling makes clear that there were at least two, possibly three varieties of this piece and it seems the spelling errors may have been corrected.
