Description:
½ Penny Conder Token. Bell says in Commercial Coins: 'Joseph Clarke was a hatter and hosier at No. 2 Gentleman's Walk, Norwich. The large old-fashioned fur muffs were introduced into England in the sixteenth century, and the long boas considerably later. Stockings were originally made of cloth; silk and knitted worsted ones being inventions of the sixteenth century, and the latter had a duty imposed on them in 1785. Gloves were also invented in the sixteenth century...'
