A beautiful silver medal by Oscar Roty commemorating the 25th anniversary of the 3rd republic. Obverse legend `the country does not forget' the defeat at Sedan in 1870 symbolised by a tear. The reverse design has elements of the silver coinage of France also engraved by Oscar Roty and minted during the period 1895 -1920.
