We must admit to being slightly puzzled about this coin, but then our knowledge of Spanish history is not perfect or universal. We know the Reconquista (reconquest of Spain from the Moors) officially ended in 1492 with the conquest of Granada, and that Christopher Columbus (an Italian) discovered America and a few other places along the way.
