Shogunate, Meiwa, 5 Momme, 1765. 18.75g, 0.46 Silver, .2773 Oz. ASW, 45mm(L), 21mm(W). The fixed weight coin was equal 46% fineness to other silver coins in circulation during the period. The issuance of fixed weight silver coins meant the loss of an opportunity to profit from fees gained from weight slicing. It was difficult to gain the full cooperation of moneychangers.
