Description:
Portuguese domination (1511-1641), MALACCA, Sebastiao I (1557-1578), Tin Dinheiro (Soldo), 1557. Tin. Obv. 3 arrows between B-A; 2 dots above. Rev. Astrolabe with diagonal at upper right (Malacca founded by Parameswara, a Srivijayan prince of Palembang who fled Sumatra following a Majapahit attack in 1377. He found his way to Malacca c.1400. Portuguese occupied Malacca in 1511. Captured by the Dutch in 1641. Held by the British in 1795, ceded to Britain in 1824). Crudely struck VF. Scarce.
