Description:
Ming dynasty (1361-1644), Emperor Xuande, His era name means 'Proclamation of virtue' (1426-35). 'Xuan De Tong Bao', 5.2g, Bronze, 25.64mm. The emperor was known as an accomplished painter & also fond of poetry & literature. He wanted to withdraw his troops from Annam, but some of his advisors disagreed. Finally, he eventually recognized the independence of Annam after losing 70,000 men in 1427 which were defeated by the Annamese (Wikipedia). Common cast, but with very attractive pink patina.
