This is an Edward the Confessor Expanding Cross penny. However, it has been contemporaneously made into a brooch by putting solid silver pins through the reverse and then coating the reverse in gold. These are extremely scarce pieces as it shows true wealth as a solid silver coin coated in gold is a real status symbol. The coin was minted by Godric at London.
