scarcer silver jeton struck circa 1750 during the reign of Louis XV for the Corporation de Vitries / Peintures sur Verre de Paris (Guild of Glaziers and Glass Painters of Paris. The reverse die was first used under Louis XIIII hence the date of 1715. This example was struck using dirty dies and has also suffered from what appears to be damage due to chlorine exposure. Don't store your coins in plasticised flips folks!! |
