Spanish colonial, Mexico, Philip V, 8 Reales, 1735. Assayer: M.F., Mexico city mint. 26.8g, 38mm, silver. The Rooswijk ship wreck. The Rooswijk belonged to the Dutch East India Company and on its second voyage to the east on 9 January 1740, it hit the Goodwin sand banks in the English channel, approximately 8km from the British mainland. The Rooswijk was discovered on the Goodwin Sands by an amateur diver in 2004. It lies in about 24 metres (79 ft) of water at the northeast end of Kellett Gut. An extremely high grade scarce early date coin in good extremely fine condition.
