A 1919 Penny, heavily worn. Notice how you can see the outlines of the portrait on the reverse. One can barely see the letters O and NNY (where it should read ONE PENNY). On the picture only the O is recognisable.
All though (or maybe because it is) worn, I consider it beautiful.

The portrait outline was known as ghosting and it was the reason for the stop in penny production between 1923 and 1925 and the modification of the alloy from then on.
