Prince Edward Island - Fisheries/Plough token. Issued by various merchants, these tokens were reportedly struck by Ralph Heaton and Sons in Birmingham, but the 1840 issue must have been antedated as they only began business about 1850. One merchant got these from Heaton for 1s 9d/lb.(90 tokens) and got 3s 9d for 90 tokens in Newfoundland, infuriating the government there and forcing them to issue their own copper currency.
