Tonkin, French Protectorate, Milled Coinage, 1/600 Piastre, 1905. 2.1g, Zinc, 25mm. Obv.: Legend around square center hole. Rev.: Value above & below, 'Thong-bao' at left & right. France assumed sovereignty over all of Vietnam after the Sino-French War (1884-1885). The French colonial government then divided Vietnam into 3 different administrative territories. They named the territories: Tonkin (in the north), Annam (in the center) & Cochinchina. Gem Brilliant UNC. Scarce in this condition. |
