| The British Royal Mint have announced a public design competition, open only to UK residents, to submit designs for a series of 29 fifty pence coins to celebrate the 2012 London Olympic Games. It is likely that the first coins will be released in 2009, with more in 2010, 2011, and 2012. As 50p is an affordable coin, we think this should give popular numismatics in the UK a boost. |
