| Portugese Colony, 100 Patacas, 1978. 28.28g, 0.9250 Silver, .8411 oz. ASW. Mintage: 610 units. Gold & Silver proof coins were issued by Macau for the 25th anniversary of the Grand Prix. They depicted racing cars blazoned with ads, which appeared in the photograph supplied to the coin designer. The colonial authorities took exception to this so the coins were hurriedly withdrawn & replaced by designs without ads. The 'ads' silver versions are now very scarce. PCGS-PR65 Deep Cameo. |
