WWII, Japanese occupation, Inner Mongolia, 5 Chiao (50 cents), year 27th (1938 A.D.) Obv. floral design. Rev. a pair of stylized dragons and the denomination. During the 1930's Japan conquered much of Northern China. In each area they would establish puppet states or puppet banks to issue currency for their newly conquered land. The Meng Chiang (Mongolian Borderlands) Bank was established for the Inner Mongolia. The Meng Chiang bank issued only one coin type. Common coin. |
