Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), Emperor Wen Zong (1851-61), 'Xian Feng Zong Bao', rev. 'Boo i' left and right. Mint: Ili, Xinjiang. According to D. Hartill's catalog, in June 1855, it was decided to stop casting all large coins, and introduce this 4 cash coins in copper and iron. Note: This specimen is different variety as listed in Hartill catalog, i.e. different 'Bao' (9 o'clock), askew 'Bao'. This is brass variety (copper type exists). Hartill listed it as common coin; Hua listed it as scarce. |
