20-Cents in Silver, Kwang-Tung Province, China Republic Year 8 (1919), Trial Struck on Brass. "After the revolution the Canton Mint switched its production of ‘small coin’ to a Republican design copied from the Straits Settlements coins. Minting of 20- and 10-cents started at 780 fine, but the quality was systematically debased for two years during WWI due to the high price of silver." |
