2 Francs - 1922, Paris Mint "Chambres de Commerce de Frances". This coins were not actually minted by the Federal Government of France, but by the Chamber of Commerce of Paris. From what I have read, the country was in a shortage of metal to create new coins after the close of WWI. So in order to keep the country from falling back into a bartering system, they allowed some private organization mint legal tender. This coin was from one of these private mints. |
